South Africa is a country located in southern part of Africa.As any other country,South Africa has too many interesting things we should talk about but in this post we are going to talk about Sport and Recreations in South Africa.We will discuss also about the advantages and disadvantages of discussing this topic on Social media as a Public Relations Practitioner.

A joyful country with happy people found in South Africa didn’t come just like that manna we heard in bible but South Africans know how to produce such happiness,the source is from Sport and Recreations.The togetherness from sports fields and stadium,mind refreshment and body fitness from recreation centers play a huge role in the happiness and harmony found in #Southafrica.

“Nothing brings people together like Football does!”This is a quote from a former FIFA President Sepp Blatter in 2010 when #Southafrica was hosting World Football Cup in2010.South Africa does have many Competitive sports,some of them are:
-Football:The South African women national team is called “Banyana Banyana” while the men team is called “Bafana Bafana”.The most entertaining football teams are #KaizerChiefs #OrlandoPirates and #MamelodiSundowns.Most of us,we remember players like Mark Fish(1998),Tchabalala(2010) and many other players whom we won’t forget for their efforts to make us happy in Fooball

-Rugby:#Rugby is another popular sport in South Africa.#SouthAfricanRugbyNationalTeam is called Springboks.The popular teams are The Lions and The Crusaders.
-Crickets:South African National #Cricket team is the most busiest national team thanks to its competitions schedule.
-Cycling:Teams like Dimension data has local,national and international cyclists and in 2017 broke a record of becoming a first cycling team from Africa to participate in the First world cycling tournament called Tour de France.

-Volleyball:#Volleyball in South Africa is growing slow by slow and there is a hope that it will catch up the other sports like Football,Rugby and Rugby.This hope is from different competition organised by South African Volleyball Federation especially in High schools and Universities.

-Athletism:South African athletes are worldly known thanks to the different world records they broke.Athletes like Semenya and Oscar Pistorius won’t be forgotten.
-Basketball
-Netball


As a Public Relations Practitioner,the importance of discussing #SportandRecreation in South Africa on Social media is to let people know how Sport and Recreation can bring the happiness and and enable people live in harmony.The discussions like these also let people use two ways communication by interacting  through comments.

The disadvantages can occur when a Public Relations Practitioner ignore the strategic use of Social media.When he or she doesn’t intervene in the comments can be the source or wrong information and rumors.This topic can also push foreigners to overstay in South Africa illegally sometimes because they think that they can use different opportunities found in Sports environment in South Africa regardless the process of legal documents.
